Marcel Schouwenburg works at the Reactor Institute Delft (RID) of the Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) in the Netherlands. He is a registerred RPE (in Dutch: Algemeen Coördinerend Deskundige) and a senior university lecturer in radiation protection (RP). He started his RP career in 1992 when joining the Health Physics Department of the RID as a RPO. Over the next five years and while studying Natural and Environmental Sciences (major Health & Natural Sciences) he became increasingly involved in RP E&T. In 1997 he became a full-time RP educator and trainer. As of January 2005 he is head of the Training Centre Delft of the National Centre for Radiation Protection (NCSV) of TU Delft. He is a visiting university lecturer in RP of the Universidade do Minho in Portugal and since 2013 visiting RP Trainer of CERN. He is a current board member of the EUTERP Foundation and both webmaster of the EUTERP website and deputy treasurer. For over 11 years he was a member of the editorial board of the Nederlands Tijdschrift voor Stralingsbescherming (Dutch Journal for Radiation Protection, NTvS) of which he was the initiator and three years editor in chief. In 2012 he also became editor of the most commonly used RP book for RW in the Netherlands. Finally he is coordinator of the professional nuclear E&T offered by RID and a national contact point of IAEA-INSEN.
