Description of the different courses and Radiation Protection education system

In Hungary, the national legislation on radiation protection stipulates three levels of courses as a requirement to be RW* (workers don’t work with sources in radiation workplace, ie. drivers, cleaners, other technical personal (basic level – B) ), RW (working with sources-extended level – extended level - E), RPO (extended level- E) and RPE (advanced level -A).
 
The basic level course is minimum 8 hours, the extended level is minimum 26 hours, and the advanced level is minimum 40 hours.
 
The course thematic is specific in the medical, in the NPP, and in the radiography field. Other fields are not distinguished (standard).
 
The courses must be renewed after 5 years for each level.

Accreditation body

The Advanced and Extended level courses are accredited by the National Centre of the National Public Health and Medical Officer Service, while basic level courses may be accredited by the regional Radiation Protection Centres of the National Public Health and Medical Officer Service.

Requests and questions about (mutual) recognition of foreign documents can be asked by the National Public Health and Medical Officer Service.
