InterRad training course

The InterRad course will introduce students and scientists, also with non-radiation background, to various disciplines contributing to radiation research and protection. Insights to physical, dosimetric, biological and epidemiological fundamentals and risk calculations in radiation research will be provided. Special emphasis is given to deepen the mutual understanding between different subjects and to show opportunities and advantages of interdisciplinary approaches for radiation research. New emerging disciplines such as exposome research including molecular epidemiology which bridges biology and epidemiology will be introduced. New knowledge on biological radiation effects such as neurological and cardio-vascular effects will be highlighted. In this context the 1-Million Worker Study currently running in the US will be presented. In respect to radiation protection a special focus is given this time towards emergency protection in radiological disaster management this year.

The Course is composed of an Online part for the lectures and a practical part for wet lab experience. It will take part from April 13th-17th 2026 for the Online part and from April 20th-24th for the practical training in Munich.
