Jan-Willem Vahlbruch, Board Member

Dr Jan-Willem Vahlbruch works at the Institute for Radioecology and Radiation Protection (IRS) of Leibniz University in Hannover (LUH) since 2000. After the PhD thesis “On the behavior of natural radionuclides in terrestrial ecosystems and on the realistic estimate of the radiation exposure due to natural radionuclides in Northern Germany” he became in 2005 the head of the Radiation Protection Courses at IRS. Since 2010 he is also the responsible Radiation Protection Expert for LUH and since 2013 head of the expert group “Training and Education” of German-Swiss Radiation Protection Association (Fachverband für Strahlenschutz). He is particular interested in how to identify similar approaches and common contents in radiation protection training courses or education programs in the different EU member states and, if possible, to take them into account in the mutual recognition of qualifications. Additionally, new technologies like augmented reality or virtually reality and methods like blended-learning, e-learning or online-teaching are parts of his research activities.
